Monday, December 10th, 2012: At Sea between Casablanca, Morocco and Funchal, Madeira
Bob:
The Atlantic Ocean was as smooth as silk, but neither of us slept well. Monika had consumed something the previous evening that disagreed with her (although it may have been the Norwalk virus), and I had simply consumed too many sautéed onions with my steak fajitas. Although the resulting fajita was quite delicious, the consequent occasional indigestion kept waking me up during the night. As a result, we were both tired in the morning but still enjoyed a beautiful sunrise when walking to breakfast on the Lido deck.
On the deck just above the buffet we often stopped in at the very spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated library of the Pacific Princess. It was as quiet as a tomb and all together a wonderful ambiance for reading or just quiety relaxing. I had to be careful, though, that I didn't fall asleep on one of those comfortable wing-backed easy chairs or couches, because then I would start snoring and disturb the peace and quiet!
Despite being tired, we tried to participate in the "dance refresher" session, where we learned some Meringue and Cha Cha steps in addition to reviewing the Swing lesson we had had earlier. I had fun but Monika was really too tired and got dizzy easily, so we had to sit out some of the time which we normally never do.
We also fell asleep in the middle of the day for a 3-hour nap, which is also something we normally never do. Still, that way we had the energy to dress for dinner and have a nice meal with David, Pat, Chris, and Tina. Monika retired for the night already at the desert course and I followed soon thereafter.
