Wanderung 27

Bob:

We walked on deck for our morning constitutional, at one point watching a small container ship chug slowly by about a kilometer away. But then we returned to our balcony to read and wrote in the journal to while away the the rest of the morning.

But by the afternoon we were ready to be "out and about" as they say. So early in the afternoon we took walz lessons with Sam, the cruise director. Gosh it was nice having a slow, familiar dance to practice, particularly as I had not danced since our last cruise over half a year back. Also, we both simply like walz music in general as compared to say Meringue music, so we had a wonderful time. At the end of the lesson, Sam taught me how to go to an "open" position in a walz, which was also new to me.

We also danced from 5-5:30 before dinner. The dance floor was nearly empty so I didn't have to worry about bumping into other couples, which is quite embarrassing, and the DJ decided to select some fairly slow, non-latin music numbers that we could dance a foxtrot to, so we had a great time. We also danced a couple of slow waltzes, a Lindy hop, and made valiant attempts at a cha-cha and tango, after which we declared moral victory and headed off to dinner!
