Wanderung 28

For our first day at The Sanctuary, we explored the neighborhood by walking around, and uncovered the heated pool for swimming. Monika and I tested out our new snorkeling equipment and were happy to find that it was very effective. We even got Ericka to try it out, but Ondina could not as she was recovering from eye surgery and under strict instructions not to get her eyes wet. Monika also drove with Ondina and Ericka over to the local Target for medication, which was quite a ways to the South on Route 19, the main North-South route in the area.

Martin was feeling marginally better, so we had his birthday party. I had given him a radio-controlled helicopter, but we had to purchase batteries for the controller to try it out, so that had to wait. Monika gave him a National Park Service calendar with a couple of dolls in ranger outfits. Ondina and Ericka gave Martin a humidifier, which was not required in coastal Florida, of course, but rather for the dry Chicago winter that he and Tanya would have to endure later.

Martin also helped me prepare a meal of pork chops and potatoes au gratin with broccoli cut up into it. Tanya made another salad, so with Martin's expert advice (and timing!) we all had a decent evening meal.
